…and I’ll be at Knitting Camp!!!! For those of you who know me, you know my excitement level is off the charts right now. That’s why I haven’t posted in a few days…I’ve been knitting like crazy and finally completed one of the best projects I’ve done in a long time. We all live to knit and knit to live but sometimes there comes a project that you just fall madly in love with…well…these gloves and I have had quite the romance.
Here’s my inspiration: Steph called her’s, mermaid gloves and you can see why from the color and name of the original pattern…I saw them and had to make them. I was also so amazed at the concept of turning a sock pattern into gloves…so ingenious…I never would have thought of that. With all humility, I consider myself a very good knitter but I don’t always have the vision to “create from scratch” some brilliant new sweater, sock or hat pattern…I can knit the hell out of something or even greatly edit something but I can’t think it up…my husband says I’m not trying hard enough. “I’m not applying myself…” anyway…here’s my version…
Here are the specs:
Pattern: Pomatomus (see link above)
Yarn: Koigu #1160 (the picture does come pretty close to the actual color), 2 skeins
Needles: Addi Turbo size #0 (2 circs)
Read Steph’s posts on her general instructions. They are general instructions giving positioning for the thumb and fingers. I changed her thumb increases to yarn overs so it was more in keeping with the original design. Other than that I stayed true to the design.
Did I mention how much I love these gloves…
I have so much more to share with you…lots of posts this week…Michelle says I have to show progress shots….get ready!!!
